So...
England and Iceland were both splendid to live in for two weeks and now I am back and ready to begin the adventure...
Unfortunately, I hadn't the time to look for a Green Apple with a leaf as the above picture shows. It would have been best to go apple-picking where I could find the perfect Green Apple with a leaf attached to it and pull it off the tree and eat it. However, apple season starts in September but whether early on I have no clue and no time to go apple-picking as I wanted to start yesterday so I hastily went to Harvest Wagon to buy it and the Grapes. I was disappointed to be behind schedule, but that's just the way it turned out.
So again...
I went to Harvest Wagon while walking my dog with my younger sister after I had gone to the library. I left the library disappointed because they did not have the book I wanted, but I was glad to be going to Harvest Wagon so I could buy the first two items. After examining a few Granny Smith apples, I found one that I thought looked closest to the picture. Surprisingly, the apples were rounder than expected, though not as much as the picture shows so I could not tilt it slightly on the plate to mimic how the Green Apple looks in the image. I had never been by myself at Harvest Wagon, but I knew what to do. Too bad I was clumsy at it. I needed help a few times getting the items in the bags, and I fumbled a lot tearing the bags from the roll of bags. Finally, after dropping the five ears of corn I was instructed to buy for dinner and being helped with that too, I payed for the fruit (and corn, which ended up undamaged and perfectly delicious). I walked back home with my sister and my dog, who chided me for being late (my sister, not the dog), telling me it shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes (which it did not) and to get her to help me whether I need help or not (strange logic in my opinion; and besides, I was helped by the nice people who worked there). Dogs are not allowed in there so I am not sure how she could go inside and help me without bringing the dog. Anyways, I am getting off topic. I must digress...
Today I ate the apple and later I will eat the Grapes if there is time to write about it. The leaf you see in the picture is actually a bay leaf, which I carefully inserted into the apple's "dimple" right beside the stem. It didn't droop like the item's leaf does, but it was close enough. The picture was taken and uploaded and then I started eating. The apple was hard on my teeth. It was hard to bite, and I took huge bites involuntarily. I whenever I bit, I got about twice the size I bit into. It was better than I expected. It was very juicy, juicer than I recall with other Granny Smith apples, although I have noticed that generally Granny Smiths are juicy. It was slightly sweet and it was tart, and it was sourer as I bit deeper into it. I enjoy sour things, which is why I like Green Apples more than Red Apples. With Red Apples, sometimes they are dry, and I find it very difficult to eat when dry, but I have never eaten a dry Green Apple before. Even if I found one, at least they are sour so I might have better luck.
The crisp apple disappeared pretty quickly, core, seeds, and all. It was only very recently that I started eating the entire apple, even the stems. A friend knew that I am adventurous when it comes to food, so they suggested (since they themselves ate whole apples) to try it out. I did, and it tasted fine. The core is more fibrous than the rest of the apple, so it got a bit stuck in my teeth, but it was good nonetheless. The seeds tasted nutty and were crunchy. Now it may seem like the stem would be hard to eat, but it is easier than it looks. I also ate the bay leaf, which is probably not something I would do with an actual apple tree leaf. It was bitter and slightly similar to mint leaves, but I had a little trouble swallowing the dry leaf and needed a little water to get it unstuck from my throat.
The apple was a great start to the eating adventure, and it was simple. That is how I am starting off. Simple and easy first and then more complex as I go along. Next up are Grapes, which are equally simple. One thing that is concerning me early on in this adventure is where I am going to find a grub, which is coming up very soon, but my father probably knows where to get one or could find it easier than myself. Second challenge is making it look like how the item shows it, purple with green spots.
All the pictures of the Neopets items and their stats I obtained from NeoItems.net or Jellyneo or Neopets itself, both of whom I am thanking ahead of time. Without these sites, I could not possibly be doing this blog. And the images and Neopets itself do not belong to me. I do not own any of it.
